About Barbara · Registered Acupuncturist in Niagara Falls
Whole systems healing rooted in traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and nutrition.
I’m Barbara Poczyniak, a Registered Acupuncturist in Niagara Falls, Ontario, with over a decade of clinical experience supporting women through hormonal transitions, fertility challenges, chronic pain, digestive concerns, and nervous system dysregulation.
I founded AcuNiagara to offer acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine care that is thoughtful and attentive to patterns that often go unnamed in conventional healthcare.

Many of the people I work with have been told their symptoms are “normal,” “too early,” or not serious enough to address – yet their lived experience tells a different story.

Areas of Clinical Focus
My acupuncture practice in Niagara Falls focuses on supporting women through complex, often overlapping concerns, including:
Menstrual and cycle health
Fertility acupuncture and reproductive support
Perimenopause and midlife hormonal changes
Chronic pelvic, abdominal, and musculoskeletal pain
Digestive and gut-related symptoms
Skin health influenced by hormones and stress
Nervous system regulation and stress recovery
Core Values
My work is grounded in respect for the body’s intelligence, natural rhythms, and capacity for regulation when given the right support. Care here integrates Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern healthcare, with the goal of helping patients feel more regulated and at ease in their bodies over time.

Why I Do This Work
My approach to acupuncture is shaped by personal experience as much as clinical training. Throughout my teens and twenties, I lived with severe period pain, digestive issues, and migraines. Despite years of testing, I was repeatedly told that nothing was wrong – that I simply had “bad luck.” Over time, I learned to push through and stopped expecting clear answers.
In my early thirties, after nearly two decades of symptoms, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 endometriosis. Surgery brought some relief, but it wasn’t a complete solution. What made the most lasting difference was working with a physician who understood both advanced medical care and the body’s capacity to heal when properly supported.

My Philosophy of Care
Alongside conventional treatment, I was encouraged to address stress and nutrition, and to commit to acupuncture with a clear plan rather than occasional visits. Over time, the results became more sustainable. That experience reshaped how I understood the body – and how I practice today.
This journey clarified my path. I chose to study acupuncture and Chinese Medicine because it offered a framework that explained what I had lived through, and a way to support other women whose health concerns don’t fit neatly into standard timelines or lab results.
